The New Bridal Shower Destination

Hen’s parties are having a moment. Gone are the days of silly games, inappropriate straws and lots of glitter. This modern era of celebrating the bride-to-be has been reinvented through long dinners at the coolest of places with the closest of friends. Enter Bar Lune…

With its wine bottle wall and reputation as one of Adelaide’s best restaurants, Bar Lune is appearing as the destination for intimate celebrations. It’s sophisticated and refined, edgy and urban – everything you’d want for an exclusive gathering with only your closest. No wonder then that it’s the go-to for modern-day brides looking to switch things up.

Location is key when it comes to setting the tone for your hen’s party, and this Beulah Park haunt has a cosy yet cool vibe in spades. Love and long conversations are done best here over bottles of wine – handpicked from South Australia’s famed vineyards and wineries around the world – and curated courses designed to share.

“We believe in local and fresh ingredients, which is why our menu changes regularly,” says Sam Worrall-Thompson, the co-owner and culinary mind behind Bar Lune and other venues like Dolly, Spread and Fettle. “We have a really solid food and booze offering.”

The best and brightest local produce is on show with Bar Lune’s sit-down dinners. Plates of raw fish with seasonal citrus and fresh herbs, hand-rolled pasta and ‘lune soldiers’ atop a brioche bun are just some of the shared, family style food you can indulge in at intimate celebrations.

Toast to your love-filled future with glasses of Rockbare Riesling, Forage Rosé or Reverie Gamay available in the celebratory drinks package (which can be upgraded to include bottles of Riesling Freak and Aphelion Welkin Nero d’Avola, too). Cocktails can be ordered by the glass, and while spicy margs and Aperol spritzes never go amiss, we recommend giving the Lune iced tea a taste test – an inviting mix of Coochi vermouth, gin, peach tea and citrus.

Bar Lune’s outstanding food and wine offering is only buoyed by its understated ambience and colourful character. The vintage-inspired dining room isn’t the only space reserved for celebrations either – the adjoining laneway can transform into a private, al-fresco area for you and your friends. And, thanks to outdoor heating, this outdoor space can be used year-round.

If canapes are more your style, both the Bar Lune dining room and laneway space can be booked, respectively, for larger festivities. This includes a dedicated bar, personalised bar menus, an events coordinator and dedicated service staff, plus, with the laneway, a private entrance. The canapes pull the best flavours from the Bar Lune menu, reinvented through bites of broad bean pea, mint and feta toasts, oysters with apple granita, buttermilk fried chicken and grilled octopus with capsicum and lemon.

Approachable and accessible, welcome the new era of hen’s celebrations at Bar Lune -- an elevated take that celebrates love, long conversations and friends.
